Some Cristallo slabs transmit light through clearer crystalline areas, but the name alone does not prove that an entire slab is suitable for backlighting. Dense mineral zones, cloudy areas, fissures, resin, backing, thickness, seams, and structural support can change how the finished surface looks under light.
Test the actual slab with the intended light color and diffusion approach before it is cut. A successful backlit island, bar, fireplace, reception desk, or feature wall requires coordination among the stone seller, fabricator, installer, designer, lighting specialist, and electrician. Plan the LED system, rigid support, ventilation, service access, wiring, seams, shadows, and hot-spot control before fabrication begins.
