The Stone Index ("we", "us", "our") operates a Southern California marketplace connecting homeowners, designers, contractors, fabricators and stone sellers. This policy describes the information used to operate buyer inquiries, accounts, saved inventory, projects and seller listings, and the choices available to you.

1. Information we collect

Account information: details you provide, such as name, email address, phone number, business name and location, when you register or manage a listing. Some browsing and saved-item features may work without signing in.
Subscription and billing information: membership plan, billing status, billing contact details, invoices and payment-related identifiers. Stripe processes card information on its hosted checkout pages; we do not store full payment card numbers or card security codes.
Listing content: photos, descriptions, dimensions, pricing, and location data you submit for slabs and remnants.
Inquiries and project requests: contact details, ZIP codes if provided, messages, project dimensions, photos and other information you choose to submit when contacting a seller or requesting stone sourcing or fabrication follow-up.
Saved items and usage: Favorite and project selections, saved stone IDs, optional project names, page and search interactions, device/browser data and approximate location inferred from normal service logs. Guest Favorites and Projects may generate limited anonymous product-interest snapshots without an email address. Guest projects can remain on your device; these anonymous snapshots are not a cross-device backup of your project.

2. How we use information

To operate, maintain, and improve the marketplace.
To match buyers with inventory, deliver inquiries to sellers, operate Favorites and Projects, and manage opted-in stone alerts.
To coordinate requested stone sourcing or fabrication follow-up with an appropriate provider.
To manage seller memberships, provide invoices, and respond to subscription and payment questions.
To prevent fraud, spam, and abuse, and to enforce our terms.
To send transactional emails (account, listings, inquiries) and, with your consent, occasional product updates.

3. Sharing

We share inquiry details with the seller you contact, and fabrication or stone sourcing request details with providers involved in responding to your request. Public listing content is visible to marketplace visitors. We also use service providers for hosting, authentication, payment processing and subscription billing (including Stripe), email delivery, analytics and site operations, and may disclose information when required by law. We do not offer private buyer inquiry contact lists for sale. Some optional measurement or advertising services, if enabled, may receive device and interaction data; this can constitute "sharing" under certain privacy laws. 4. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sign-in sessions, remember settings and understand site usage. Analytics may include Microsoft Clarity, and a configured Meta Pixel may record page views and selected actions for advertising measurement. These services can collect device, browser and interaction information under their own policies. Some site features may not function normally when browser storage or cookies are disabled.

5. Data retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the relevant service, address inquiries, maintain records, prevent abuse and meet applicable legal requirements. The period varies with the record and its purpose; public sold-listing history may remain after a material is sold. You can request deletion of personal information by contacting us, subject to applicable retention exceptions.

6. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may be entitled to know or access the personal information we hold, request correction or deletion, obtain a portable copy, or opt out of certain uses such as sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. To ask about a privacy request or how tracking preferences are handled, contact hello@thestoneindex.com. We may need to verify your request and may retain data where legally permitted or required. We do not discriminate against people for exercising applicable privacy rights.

7. Security

We use HTTPS for site connections, account-access controls and permissions intended to limit access to non-public account and inquiry data. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique password when applicable, do not forward private sign-in links, and notify us at hello@thestoneindex.com if you believe an account or inquiry has been accessed improperly.

8. Children

The Stone Index is intended for adult buyers and business users, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
